Spellbound River Press, a new independent publisher devoted to middle grade fiction, has acquired Operation Golden Llama, the first book in the award-winning Cousins In Action series by Sam Bond.
Set in Peru, Bond’s previously self-published novel, Operation Golden Llama, follows the adventures of five cousins as they become entangled in a plot to steal the lost treasure of the Inca. Operation Golden Llama has been described as a fascinating adventure book, fast paced, funny and with plenty of suspense — perfect for ages eight to twelve.
The CIA series is a seven book series following five intrepid cousins as they become embroiled in mysteries and adventures around the world. The series will continue in Fall 2016 with Operation Tiger Paw, where the stakes rise as the cousins come face to face with the mighty tiger in vibrant and bustling India.
Bond was inspired to write the series when her own daughters, who were both adopted from China, reached reading age. Searching for books that featured Chinese or adopted children as main protagonists, Bond found very few books that didn’t focus on the adoption process. Bond says, “If I was looking for books like this, I was pretty sure there must be other adoptive parents searching for the same thing.”
